Thank you all for your nice comments and encouraging messages, am happy and gr8ful.
Its more than 7 months since i said bye to Chennai a metropolitan city towards the southern end of India. The train journeys to and fro Chennai and that "ladies compartment"...hho! i still cant digest that i travelled not once, but quite a few times. More than 50 in a compartment meant for 20!! NO wonder 'Indian railway' is making profit these days.
My 1st shelter in Chennai was YMCA, kottivakkam, hey dont think that i 've written ymca by mistake for YWCA. IT was a nice place with a big room for 2 with bigger cupboards and for giving extra company, 2-3 frogs, even more lizards and i doubt there was a rat too. And bathrooms...were always welcomed by beautiful renditions by frogs..hmmmmm. But there was always one thing which at end of the day made us forgot everything, FOOD, was really tasty. But after hearing more and more frightening stories, We shifted from there to home sweet home. our RRE.
Have patience, I am not drifting away from the topic. 2 big bedrooms, even bigger hall a nice furnished kitchen..all for us without any intruders from animal kingdom. Here the only problem contrary to YMCA was FOOD. We 5 girls were there, but cooking was a new art. Literally starving except for lays and some biscuits..then came brijila our angel along with her whole cooking range. Once again good food, curry.hmmmmmm
And one day, me and Smitha were alone at home, the laziest of all five, din't know the a-b-c-d of cooking, not even chai, not exaggerating. And we haven't had anything from morning except for water, and the previous day also dinner was for namesake, no breakfast, no lunch. It was 3 pm, searched the house upside down, nothing edible. And then we called brijila and made the most delicious rice i ever had. and here is the recipe.
* Take 1 cup of rice in a pressure cooker.
* Wash thoroughly with water.
* Add 1 and a half cup of water. Close the lid.
* Close the stove after 3 whistles.
Note: Do not forget to put the washer. The no.of whistles depends on the quality of rice.
We just had rice with curd and pickle that day. You can have it with curry also, but the recipe is yet another story. hehe!
Anna keep going....I will read and support .....ha ha
